Hello there!
I’m happy that you are here!
I am a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at Skidmore College, in the beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY. I obtained my Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Utah in 2022.
My research interests include empirical investigations on (i) how technological progress influences the natural environment, specifically through energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, and (ii) how economic activity variables (e.g., capacity utilization, aggregate investment, and the employment rate) interact with price-distributive measures (e.g., the labor share of income and interest rates). You can check out my recent research pieces in research.
I have also taught Econometrics, Statistics, Macro and Microeconomic Theory, and introductory courses. Personally, I see teaching as a means to empower students with the necessary intuition about theory and practical skills with real-world examples and data. You can take a look at my teaching experience/materials in teaching.

Why Economics?
I am originally from Brazil, and started studying Economics at the age of 17. Back then, my main interest was to understand the how’s and why’s of the economic boom the Brazilian economy was experiencing throughout the 2000s. The Econ major was the way to understand, in addition to the economic, the social and political mechanisms behind economic growth processes.
When I was introduced to data work in Statistics and Econometrics, all the quantitative character of Economics finally made practical sense. Then, in addition to studying growth and business cycles, I also started researching on the linkages between technological progress and climate change.
Beyond researching, teaching gives me the opportunity to make all the equations, models, and theories that surround us intuitive and empirically applicable to students. In my teaching, I am a big supporter of open-source software and reproducible coding.
